Head of Finance / Finance Manager / Accountant

ACCA qualified, experienced and results-driven finance professional with a strong background in financial management, reporting, and strategic planning. With over a decade of experience, has successfully led finance functions across diverse sectors, including hospitality, education and housing. Experience in various financial systems including Excel, coupled with a hands-on approach, ensures efficient financial operations and informed decision making. Has managed a team, drove a transition to paperless processes, and played a key role in utilising grant funding. Passionate about continuous learning, has a keen interest in FinTech and AI, exploring their potential to shape the future of finance.

Preparing Management Accounts, ensuring the data is accurate and assisting in the compilation of the management report
Forecasting overview & input into the system
Approving bank payments, ensuring the appropriate signed paperwork
Manage part of the accounting and financial reporting team
Ensure monthly tasks are undertaken by the team in a timely manner
Developed various macros to improve efficiency of processes
Produce annual accounts for shared ownership properties, and dealing with customer enquiries
Annual budgeting including quarterly reforecasts including engaging with budget holders to ensure accurate forecasts and engagement
Various financial reports for the board of governors, including monthly Management Accounts and development of a Financial Dashboard
Part of the Leadership Team, supporting colleagues to understand finances as a whole and within their dedicated areas
Supporting colleagues with business cases being reported to the Executive team where there is a financial impact
Budget tracking capital and revenue, including grant claim funding producing reports and defrayal evidence where required

Being responsible for monitoring customer debt and ensuring the debt recovery process is followed as necessary
Keeping track of contracts, ensuring appropriate management and renewals seeking value for money and appropriate procurement requirements
Cashflow management and reporting
Financial Government Reports including Finance Report and Financial Forecasting Return including monitoring and reporting of Financial Health
Leading annual External Financial Audit and regular internal audits within the Finance Department
Growth of the Finance Team to include three apprentices progressing one apprentice from Level 3 to currently studying for Level 7
Working with the bank manager to ensure appropriate reporting
Working with departments across the business to ensure the smooth running of all areas
Ensuring compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies, whilst also ensuring budget holders also follow policy
Creating a dashboard within Excel to aid report reading for non-finance-based colleagues
Working with colleagues to source funding for AI and VR
Responding to internal and external stakeholder queries
