Head of Finance/Financial Controller

ACCA qualified and highly experienced Finance Leader with a natural problem-solving mentality. Enjoys project work and a challenge whilst continually driving process improvements to create an organised controls focused environment. A resilient and supportive leader who is adaptive to change and works well on own or within a team in order to meet project/audit or operational deliverables. Has a willingness to be flexible, including hands-on to meet the business needs. Experienced in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams) Microsoft Navision, CODA, SAP, Dream, Oracle, Sage Line 50, Viztopia, Hyperion, TM1, Cognos, Business Objects, Xero, Receipt bank, and in-house bespoke packages.

SKILLS

FCCA Qualified Accountant – trained in Practice/Audit background before moving to Industry
Experienced working in large Global Corporations and SME’s
Project work/financial controls and governance framework (incl. SLA Reporting)
Leadership, management and development of teams up to 70 FTE/turnaround underperforming teams
Relationship/stakeholder management (up to senior management level) within finance and other business communities
Financial, Statutory and Regulatory Reporting, and key contact point for internal and external auditors
Change management; drive team innovation, challenge ways of working and delivering value through Continuous Improvements/implementation of lean principles
Finance Shared Service Centre experience (On shore and offshore arrangements)
Financial Planning & Analysis Budgeting and Forecasting Management Reporting

Management of day-to-day activities of a small finance department, (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Management Reporting), and overseeing all financial activities for the Group, ensuring finance tasks and objectives are delivered
Provide financial guidance and support to the CFO and SMT to enable sound business decisions to be made on a timely basis
Preparation of month end accounts for each of the Group of Companies together with accompanying schedules, reconciliations, journal entries and calculation of depreciation, accruals/prepayments, as appropriate
Treasury management, monitoring liquidity and cash planning including preparation of daily and weekly cashflow forecasts, bank reconciliations, GBP/EUR & USD payment run processing and recording bank transactions
Drafting of the Board reporting pack together with accompanying commentary, appropriate trend and variance analysis
Management of the year end audit process and overseeing the preparation of year end statutory accounts
Liaising with external parties including bankers, FX brokers, insurers, advisors and auditors as required
Providing assistance and guidance with costing models and annual budgeting process
Overseeing tax compliance and filings including preparation and submission of VAT returns for the Group
Working with SMT to ensure robust financial systems and controls are in place to identify and implement process controls/efficiencies
Participate in any ad-hoc finance project work streams, as required
Deputising for the CFO, when required
