CFO/Finance Director

Immediately available, highly commercial, prize-winning, ACA qualified chartered Accountant with almost 30 years’ experience. Has held a variety of number one Finance roles including CFO jobs and financial director roles with Board, Commercial, FP&A, Project and core Financial Control/Reporting responsibilities across multiple sectors including Energy, Logistics, Financial Services, SaaS, PE and the Public Sector. Furthermore, he has worked on several M&A deals including leading the acquisition and integration of a £450m turnover business and c£200m exits.

Chief Financial Officer of a £200m Waste Management company – Statutory Director. Set up the division from scratch, exceeding the business case and transforming finance and the capability of the finance team.
UK Finance Director of a Retail Energy Business – leading a team of c45 through the £200m+ sale by private investors, integration and subsequent development of the business. Also led acquisition and integration of a c£450m t/o B2C and B2B competitor.
Divisional Finance Director of a £150m t/o multi-site logistics business – team of c30 (Group turnover c£1.3bn).
Finance Director of £45m t/o PE backed high growth Financial Services and SaaS business through to a c£200m sale – team of c20.
Proposing and then leading a cost reduction programme which successfully saved £120m pa (£270m over three years) for a major UK Energy Retailer.

Leading the financial integration of two completely different statutory entities
Creating and delivering a new Vision, Organisational Design and Transformation agenda for the CFO Function while substantially improving employee engagement (in the last 12 months 8 of team were promoted to roles elsewhere in the Group)
Step changed financial information and insight, successfully managed budget challenges
Statutory Board Director of three subsidiaries
Responsible for Finance, Sanctioning (and for a period IT, Risk and Assurance) with a team of between 50-100
Key role in the £200m+ sale of the business, including Due Diligence meetings with Multinational Energy company and their advisors, Purchase Price Allocation, implementation planning and subsequent integration activity
Led the acquisition of a c£450m t/o B2C & B2B competitor. Successfully led all integration activity including the migration of 150-200k Residential customers.
Identified, proved the case and then worked with the business to deliver opportunities to improve profitability including £3m pa pricing, £3m pa COGS savings, £5m+ pa collections improvements and £5m Revenue Assurance.
Restructured and strengthened the team to substantially improve performance and transform employee engagement – developed and mentored the existing team to create a high performing finance function
Step changed financial control and efficiency through a Systems optimisation project
Improved customer service through material improvements in cash allocation and refunds processing
Leading a Finance function with a team of c45 including AP, Refunds, Management Accounts, Forecasting, Pricing, Costing, Business Partnering etc.
