ACA Finance Director

Are you recruiting for a Finance Director? shortly available, highly skilled FCA qualified Accountant and Director, equipped with a wide range of experience in the UK, Europe and Australia in manufacturing, services, property and energy. Transferable skills include project and change management; acquisitions and disposals; all aspects of accounting, financial management and internal/external reporting; treasury management; efficiency improvements, cost reductions and controls; business growth; compliance.

  • Responsibility for all financial management, including long and short term forecasting, financial control and liquidity (including long and short term finance)
  • Presentation of quarterly performance to Group Managing Board
  • Providing strong leadership on all financial activities and on all corporate governance issues within the business
  • Management of the wider business as part of the UK Board, including ensuring financial targets are achieved, resolving operational issues and steering the longer-term strategic direction of the company
  • Responsible for all corporate insurance and company IT functions
  • Responsible for internal and external compliance, including GDPR, ICFR, ERM
  • Overseen £50m in capital investment, 250% growth in business revenue and substantial increase in business profits during tenure
  • Driven positive change within the finance function and across the wider business

Key Skills & Achievements

 

  • Strategic Financial Management & Accounting: Board level role having helped successfully build a manufacturing company from start up in 2008 to 265 staff, £180m turnover and consistent profitability, installing all financial systems to meet UK and parent company requirements and ensure capacity to cope with rapid growth

 

  • Forecasting & Treasury: Skilled in designing and managing forecasts at individual and group level. Set up successful treasury management function and installed appropriate foreign currency hedging procedures.

 

  • Acquisitions & Disposals: Carried out due diligence and all accounting procedures in previous company as it focused on its core business in maritime safety, lifeboat servicing and protective clothing. Involved in acquisition of companies across Europe as part of new group strategy. Masters’ dissertation focused on M&A performance and causality research.

 

  • Financial Systems: Installed SAP in UK having worked in European parent company to understand their system and ensure UK system met UK statutory and other requirements. Previously installed CODA system in the energy sector and managed conversion from US GAAP to UK GAAP.

 

  • Cost Reductions & Controls: Successfully led business wide cost and efficiency improvement projects

 

  • Leadership & Management: Very experienced in recruiting, training and managing highly professional finance teams and setting clear objectives with supportive monitoring and mentoring systems. Built excellent relationships with subsidiary and group management teams using strong influencing skills.
