Financial Controller

A tremendous CIMA qualified Financial Controller/Finance Business Partner seeking a new role. Has extensive ICT skills. Has extensive experience of redesigning asset registers and is an excellent communicator and performer of delivering tasks with a high level of efficiency and quality. Experienced in business partnering across various business functions with varying levels of leadership up to Board level, consolidating in accounts at a Group level to distribute internally and externally, and experienced in demerger and trade sale of businesses including completion accounts.

  • Finance Partner to the Operations Director and senior management onsite
  • Deal with customers both in the UK and globally in terms of contract negotiations and reporting
  • Manage a team
  • Management P&L, Balance Sheet and Cashflow management, along with the management of monthly flash and forecasting
  • Monthly balance sheet reconciliation and quarterly review with SLT
  • Preparation of monthly pack and presentations
  • Creation and submission of investment models as part of new business and renewals within business area
  • Liaise with Commercial and Operational counterparts to deliver any new business submissions in order to get business approvals and new business tenders
  • Work with any potential new businesses around the tender process including submissions to new customer and liaising around any cost models and rate cards
  • Review any customer renewals which can include submission on new investment model and supplementary rate card along with any inflationary increase or legislative changes that would affect company rate card with a customer
  • Ensure business areas adhere to internal frameworks and controls and have ultimate responsibility around the compliance of these controls and frameworks
  • Calculation for and assessing of contract renewals with existing customers along with annual inflationary increase along with any legislation changes (such as the recent National Insurance increase)
  • Deputise for Director of Finance whenever required,
  • Liaise with auditors during annual audit, providing the required information and answering any queries when required

Key Achievements

  • The contract was making a loss. Was tasked with doing a dive analysis of the rate card so could better understand where the business was losing money. Findings resulted in us challenging the company and further down the line resulted in a commercial agreement
  • Developed a quicks model which integrates both financial and operational measures and has resulted in the team having a much more succinct weekly meeting whilst still maintaining a high level of accuracy when it comes to weekly quicks vs month end trading figures
  • Successfully negotiated a VAT query which resulted is a significant saving
  • Successfully built an investment model for a customer renewal which was accepted and has now resulted in £0.5m increase in EBIT per annum
