Financial Controller/Finance Director

An immediately available experienced Financial Controller/Finance Director with 24 years’ accounting experience through a combination of positions in accountancy practice and industry including 10 years food manufacturing.
  • Oversee the preparation of and review monthly management accounts before submission to the Board of Directors
  • Submission of monthly finance report to the SMT and board, showing key variances from previous months trading and any risks to future months performance
  • Manage finance team
  • Finance lead on projects within the business; cost management, margin improvement, inventory reduction, working capital management etc.
  • Work closely with operational heads and SLT members to assist with the preparation of annual budgeted P & L, balance sheet and cashflow along with rolling monthly reforecasts
  • Member of the Senior Management Team reporting directly to the Managing Director
  • Support the SMT and Managing Director with information and understanding
  • Liaise with group internal audit and manage the implementation of improvements where necessary
  • Lead on annual audit and main point of contact for auditors and Corporation Tax advisors
  • Oversee and manage the credit control function
  • Work closely with the Production Manager on cost management and reduction projects
  • Manage and monitor the cashflow of the company, reporting to the Senior Management Team and the Board monthly
  • Project managed the change of ERP system to Microsoft Navision – delivered on time and with no disruption to the business
  • Developed and launched suite of reports on QlikView and QlikSense with external software partner
  • Manage IT systems and project manage any new implementations
  • Review departmental KPIs and update where appropriate
  • Secure grant funding on capital expenditure where available and applicable
  • Prepare R & D tax claims for the company
  • Heavily involved with due diligence work relating to acquisition of company
  • Liaison with company post acquisition regarding policy reviews and undertaking any changes required to ensure compliance to global framework
  • Carry out risk assessment reviews on company processes resulting in completion of risk rating forms and then formulation and documentation of proposals for any changes required to ensure compliance
  • Completion of quarterly balance sheet reviews
