Finance Manager

An experienced Finance Manager/ Financial Controller currently studying for the Legal Finance Professionals Associate Level with ILFM. Reporting into the Finance Director and responsible for a small team.  Recruitment and training of finance personnel to a high standard.  Implementation of new processes and procedures and managing a business support relocation. Implementation of new banking system. Review of current systems. Review of all areas of payroll including, managing a change of payroll provider. Extensive collaboration with software provider to improve and troubleshoot within accounting package. Implementation of new management account reporting firm-wide whilst liaising with external auditor for the year end accounts. VAT and billing reviews. Worked closely with the Marketing Manager to implement review of BD reporting, to act as liaison point between software system and Marketing to facilitate high level of reporting. Experience of working in legal and industry experience.    
  • Producing the monthly Management Accounts, compiling and circulating
  • Compile KPI reports and circulate to all Fee Earners and Partners
  • VAT returns
  • Reconciliation of general ledger accounts and balance sheet accounts.
  • Work on ad hoc finance projects to reduce expenditure and improve profits
  • Implementing processes to improve financial controls.
  • Attending management meetings
  • Ensuring that all finance functions are completed in a timely manner including billing and posting.
  • Liaising with all partners, fee earners and support staff in terms of presenting and explaining financial information where appropriate.
  • Involvement in the budgeting process and coordinating all budgets re costs including meeting budget holders.
  • Involvement in PI and Practicing certificate renewal
  • Work on ad hoc finance projects to reduce expenditure and improve profits
  • Preparation of management reports and completing month end reconciliations in a timely manner.
  • Liaise between software provider and IT department to resolve both Finance and Fee Earner queries.
  • Have been involved in the recruitment and complete restructuring of department and ensuring that full training is carried out
  • Liaison with the auditors for audits
  • Involved in ensuring the firm attains Lexcel accreditation
  • Reviewing and upgrading current billing process within the firm
  • Upgrading current manual transactional process to workflow
