Tax Assistant

The Tax Assistant is responsible for managing a portfolio of clients, under the guidance of a manager, to complete basic personal and business tax computations. They are also expected to undertake research for senior tax team members to aid the provision of specialist tax advice and planning for clients. The key responsibilities of the Tax Assistant are to: Prepare personal, partnership and trust tax computations, including annual tax credit forms and P11D’s. Conduct research for team members undertaking ad hoc tax projects. Manage client enquiries effectively within their range of expertise and escalate to the appropriate specialist when required. Demonstrate client confidentiality and report any issues which may affect client relationships to their line manager or the client director, including any concerns which may affect the firm’s client relationship e.g. money laundering, unethical business practice, complaints etc. Proactively manage their own personal study to improve their knowledge and technical abilities and keep up to date with changes in tax legislation. The ideal candidate will: Have, be working towards or willing to commit to achieving an Association of Tax Technicians (ATT) or Chartered Institute of Taxation (CTA) qualification. Be aware of their own limitations when speaking to clients. Possess adequate IT skills to operate in-house programs and software. Have a basic understanding of tax and business issues.
