Financial Controller

Financial Controller – £35/40k + benefits – Lincoln.   The company has demonstrated sustained growth over the first 3 years of trading and operates from 2 locations. The business has a projected turnover of £10m+ for the 2021/22 financial year and as such are recruiting for a Financial Controller as the company moves into the next phase of development.        


  • Managing all accounting operations
  • Preparing and publishing timely monthly management accounts to include full variance analysis to budget and forecast
  • Ensuring all reporting is compliant with statutory law and financial regulations
  • Ensuring compliance with all HMRC requirements
  • Documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Management of the full working capital cycle (13-week cash flow forecasting, optimal utilisation of confidential commercial invoice financing, robust invoicing, credit control, and supplier payment processes)
  • Managing the full weekly and monthly payroll processes, including third-party deductions
  • Contributing fully to the company’s financial strategy and decision-making processes
  • Initially completing weekly entering of timesheets into payroll software and associated administration, leading to research and inhouse transition from current financial provider to new lender, including implementation of new payroll (pay and bill) software.
  • Assisting with company compliance and administration including client/candidate paperwork
  • Debtor Insurance – Maintenance of trading levels & renewals
  • CIS returns
  • Management of A/E Pension for internal and external PAYE staff
  • Liaising and negotiating with current and prospective suppliers for items such as Public Liability and Debtor Insurance, Telephones, Stationary, etc. to ensure cost-effective purchasing
  • Research and recommendations for companywide improvements and cost savings where possible



This is a fairly unique role in a small company that will require someone that has multiple ‘hat wearing’ abilities and is willing to undertake duties slightly different to what a qualified Accountant would normally be asked to do and therefore be truly part of this bespoke functional team.


Your ability to communicate and innovate will be paramount to the success of the role. The person needs to be creative by nature and in the first instance will be required to create the blueprint for the invoice discounting strategy. This role represents the catalyst for a complete change in direction of the company’s financing strategy and therefore the Directors deem this as a long-term appointment and would suit someone with the ambition to grow into a more senior role as the company evolves.


You will be working closely with the Directors who are by their nature very down to earth and approachable.



  • Fully/Newly or Part qualified Qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA).
  • Previous experience in a Financial Controller or Finance Manager role.
  • Highly PC literate & skilled with all Microsoft Office based applications including Word/Excel/PowerPoint.
  • Accurate data entry and a keen eye for detail



  • Previous experience within commercial invoice discount financing.
  • Experience of Xero Accounting package.
