Financial Accountant

 This is a newly created role and offers the opportunity to join a fast paced business as the main technical Financial Accountant. Your main responsibility will be to oversee the Financial Accounting, Year End Statutory processes. You will be the technical point of contact for the business. Whats on offer? The Role

  • Annual preparation of Statutory Accounts
  • Responsibility for the quarterly VAT return.
  • Business support for Senior Accounting Office compliance.
  • Transfer Pricing, to take responsibility for compliance with the policy.
  • External audit – supporting the data supply pre audit.
  • External audit – Liaising with External Auditors – finalising audit timetable for interim and final audits.
  • Internal audit – supporting the Finance Team with compliance on internal controls
  • Capex & Lease applications – initial review and preparation of discounted cashflow model
  • Monthly review on capital spend on projects over £100k
  • Currency transactions providing support on handling forward contracts and monthly FX cash flows using the treasury system.
  • Monthly cash reporting and exchange rate management
  • Derivatives, handling the monthly Derivatives journal
  • Lease reporting – monthly submission
  • Support for Finance Team on the Reporting tool
  • Intercompany balances – take responsibility for ensuring all intercompany balances reconcile on a monthly basis
  • Monthly management accounts reporting and reconciliation on a monthly basis to the Cognos reporting system
  • Balance Sheet reconciliations – support the Finance Manager in ensuring that the balance sheet is reviewed and reconciled monthly, within the month end process.
  • Liaison with internal and external auditors as and when required
  • Technical point of reference for the business.
  • Back up Finance representative at the various business meetings – ie monthly management meetings, material review board meetings etc.
  • Working alongside and supporting as and when required the Senior Finance Team.
  • Qualified Accountant (CIMA / ACCA/ ACA. At least five years’ experience working within an accounts department, with at least two years’ in a similar role.


Skills & Knowledge
  • Experience in a similar role essential.
  • Production of management accounts for presentation at board level.
  • Strong communicator.
  • High level of accuracy.
  • Ability to lead and develop a small team.
  • Ability to work independently with a take control attitude.
  • Experience in developing and improving processes and controls.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritise work.
