Finance Director

Finance Director – Lincoln or Grimsby – £55k – £65k & excellent benefits including full pension. Hybrid working available, full-time permanent, contract or part-time.   An exciting opportunity for an organisation going through growth and change. The Finance Director will provide leadership and management of all aspects of finance, payroll and procurement, oversight of governance, and direct support of the Executive team.

The role of Finance Director:

Financial systems and processes

  • Ensure month-end process is completed in a timely manner by finance personnel and provide guidance where required
  • Monthly returns and audits are completed for HMRC and Pension providers
  • Support the preparation and submission for VAT recovery
  • Monitor, review, and revise where necessary, the financial scheme of delegation
  • Administrate and operate key accounting, budgeting, and banking systems to ensure all staff have appropriate access and training


Financial compliance

  • Monitor payroll information, checking for accuracy and ensuring compliance with organisation’s Pay Policy
  • Ensure PAYE rules are adhered to in the payroll system
  • Ensure the organisation is complying with ESFA regulations with management information circulation on a monthly basis and the pack is complete


Budget preparation

  • Contribute to the development and review of a 3-year strategic business plan
  • Ensure objectives are linked to the overall long term financial plan of the organisation
  • Oversee preparation and submission of budget and forecast return, reporting termly to Directors on significant variances, action required, and the end of year out-turn


Financial reporting

  • Work with the finance team for the production of monthly/quarterly management accounts, appropriate reports, and financial forecasts ensuring timeliness and accuracy
    • Ensure timely and effective availability of financial information for clients and provide general support to ensure the effective conduct of their business in accordance with the articles of governance and Financial Regulations Policy
    • Present quarterly reports at the organisation’s board meetings
    • Preparation of annual financial statement for auditors


Audit services & governance

  • Liaise with auditors and facilitate all audit arrangements
  • Advice the CEO and the Board on External and Internal audit arrangements, as required by financial regulations and memoranda
  • Implement audit requirements


Role in Senior Leadership Team

  • Participation at Executive, Senior Leadership Team, Board Meetings, and appropriate committee meetings where required
  • Assist CEO in strategic development work and cover in their absence
